“200 years” ago I was voted most popular in my High School, yet I always felt different and that I didn’t fit in. I never quite understood how I could be voted “Most Popular”. Not only was I puzzled by winning the “Most Popular” slot but what really kicked it over the top was the fact that my High School was predominantly African American and I’m a white Jewish male.
I never felt I fit in anyplace, but no one ever would suspect I felt that way. It wasn’t about being a phony or a sociopath, it was about, and still is, being comfortable with who I am and being comfortable interacting in the ever-changing world that spins around me.
